Late Winter Snow on Derwent Edge

Late Winter Snow on Derwent Edge

Derwent edge is one of the most rewarding short walks that you can find in the Peak District. It’s easily accessible from Sheffield making it very popular. Too popular you might say because the car parking at weekends and holidays can get very full.

We’re lucky enough to be able to choose which days we walk on the Derwent Edge and the 3km of climb and a further 3km or so to the trigpoint gives great views, especially after snow as it was yesterday.

At this time of year snow doesn’t last long and while we ascended through snow and under bright sunlight and blue skies, by the time we returned to the car the snow had all but melted away and the muddy bridle path back to Cutthroat bridge was a bit of a challenge to navigate. Luckily work has begun on renovating this stretch of path so by earkly summer it’ll be a bit more pleasant to walk.

Anyway here are our pictures from the walk.
